Making a Will

Whatever the size of your estate it is important to leave a clear and legally binding statement of your wishes. There are many provisions you can make now to ensure your family is financially stable. Making a Will is the only way of guaranteeing that your wishes are respected after you have passed away. We will advise you on:

Lasting Powers of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney allows you to appoint someone that you trust as an ‘attorney’ to make decisions on your behalf. It can help you plan how your health, well-being and financial affairs will be looked after when you are no longer able to make decisions for yourself.

A Lasting Power of Attorney is a safe way of maintaining control over decisions made for you because it has to be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before it can be used. In addition you are able to choose who is informed about your Lasting Power of Attorney when it is registered (so they have an opportunity to raise concerns). Finally your attorney(s) must act in your best interests at all times.
